[NEW YORK CITY \u2013 23 September 2024]<\/strong> – T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s energy exchange, EP\u0130A\u015e today announced a strategic partnership with Verra, the world\u2019s leading standard setter for climate action and sustainable development, to enable the first-ever exchange-based trading of Verra-certified carbon credits on the EP\u0130A\u015e platform.<\/p>\n

The chief executive officers of EP\u0130A\u015e and Verra came together on the sidelines of Climate Week NYC to sign a Memorandum of Understanding.<\/p>\n

The partnership will allow for Verra-certified carbon credits to be bought and sold on the EP\u0130A\u015e platform. These credits represent verified reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, and by facilitating their trade through an exchange, both buyers and sellers benefit from a regulated, efficient, and transparent marketplace.<\/p>\n

In addition to exchange-based voluntary carbon credit trading through its platform, EP\u0130A\u015e will also use the partnership with Verra to organize workshops to increase awareness amongst potential market participants.<\/p>\n

EP\u0130A\u015e CEO Taha Meli Arvas said: \u201cWith this agreement, we aim to provide the first exchange-based trading of voluntary carbon credits in the world, at EPIA\u015e. This will mean a central counterparty that is connected to registries, that verifies the existence of the credits, and seamlessly allows for their trade. This step will increase the product diversity of our environmental markets allowing our market participants access to VERRA credits.\u201d<\/p>\n

Verra\u2019s Chief Executive Officer, Mandy Rambharos, said: \u201cThis partnership marks a significant step forward in our mission to expand buyers\u2019 access to high-quality carbon credits globally. By integrating Verra-certified credits into EP\u0130A\u015e\u2019s established platform, we are aiming to enhance the credibility and transparency of T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s voluntary carbon market, and through the educational workshops foster greater participation and understanding through targeted educational initiatives. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this collaboration will have on both the market and broader climate action efforts in T\u00fcrkiye.\u201d<\/p>\n

The exchange-based voluntary carbon credit trading is expected to begin in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n
