EPİAŞ CEO Arvas:

An Important Step in Energy Trade

Working towards Türkiye’s goal of becoming a central country in energy trade, Enerji Piyasaları İşletme A.Ş. (EPİAŞ) signed a memorandum of understanding with China’s Shanghai Petroleum and Natural Gas Exchange (SHPGX). EPİAŞ CEO Taha Meli Arvas said that this cooperation will be an important step for both countries in energy trade.

Belt and Road Initiative

CEO Arvas attended the “Dialogue on Establishing Connectivity and Cooperation among Commodity Trade Markets under the Belt and Road Initiative” meeting held in China.

Memorandum of Understanding Signed

Following the meeting moderated by SHPGX CEO Shaohua Fu and opened by SHPGX President Xu Guo, EPİAŞ and SHPGX signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The Goal is to Enhance Trade

Mr. Arvas, CEO of EPİAŞ, who attended the event as the keynote speaker, said: “With the signed memorandum of understanding, we aim to increase cooperation between the two energy exchanges and improve energy trade between China and Türkiye.”

The Ultimate Goal is Mutual Transaction

Emphasizing that the cooperation between EPİAŞ and SHPGX will be an important step for both countries in energy trade, Arvas said, “Our ultimate goal is to enable EPİAŞ market participants to trade at SHPGX and SHPGX market participants to trade at EPİAŞ.”

200 Billion Dollar Turnover

The Chinese Energy Exchange SHPGX, which operates in the field of oil and natural gas trading, has an annual turnover of 200 billion dollars.
