President Erdoğan: “By commissioning the Power Futures Market, we enable advanced trading of electricity”
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan participated opening ceremony Filyos Port and Natural Gas Processing Facilities Groundbreaking.
President Erdoğan, who mentioned that they have made important breakthroughs in renewable energy, shared the following information:
“We have already completed the process of investing for 1000 megawatts of solar energy. This year, we will have mobilized a total of 4 thousand megawatts of renewable energy investment, as in 2 thousand megawatts solar and 2 thousand megawatts wind. We held the ground breaking ceremony of the third reactor of Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant together with the Russian president Mr. Putin. Hopefully we will have the first reactor of this plant in service in 2023. By commissioning the power futures market, we provide the opportunity to buy and sell electricity in a future date.”
President Erdoğan: “Another 135 billion cubic meters of natural gas was discovered in the Amasra-1 well”
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said “Fatih drilling ship has discovered 135 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the Amasra-1 well in the Sakarya gas field.“ and added “our total gas discovery in the Black Sea reached 540 billion cubic meters”.
Reminding Turkey’s long search for hydrocarbon resources, President Erdoğan stated that this discovery is a long awaited happy result, which he sees as a vanguard of new good news.
“And now it is time to share this good news with our nation. I’m very excited. Our drilling ship Fatih has discovered another 135 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the Amasra-1 well in the Sakarya gas field. Thus, our total natural gas discovery in the Black Sea reached 540 billion cubic meters. I wish this news to be good for our country and our nation. New exploration and drilling operations around the Amasra-1 well are still ongoing. We won’t stop now, we are still waiting for more good news from this region.”
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Mr. Dönmez: “The natural gas from the Black Sea region will be put into service in 2023”
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Mr. Fatih Dönmez, in his speech during the ground breaking ceremony of natural gas operation facilities and the opening of Filyos port, said that Turkey is determined in its efforts of exploration and production of hydrocarbon energy sources.
Mr. Dönmez said that they will not stop the sea and land survey efforts stated that “After our discovery of 405 billion cubic meters of gas in the Sakarya gas field, we also made three new discoveries on land in the last month. We increased our domestic oil production to over 60 thousand barrels with an additional 6,800 barrels to be obtained from our three wells. Our goal is to increase our domestic oil production to an average of 100 thousand barrels per day in 2023.”
Mr. Dönmez said that after the discovery of Fatih drilling ship in the Sakarya gas field, Turkali-1 and Turkali-2 drillings were completed and Turkali-3 drilling is still in process.
Mr. Dönmez who stated that Kanuni drilling ship is also about to complete its survey, said the following:
“We commissioned Filyos coastal Logistics Center in July last year, which will supply our ships and provide the shipment of materials needed for our operations inside our port of Filyos. Drilling fluid production, drilling material storage, non-destructive test methods and equipment compliance control and waste management are also now carried out from this center. New exploration and drilling operations are underway at our Sakarya gas field. We will continue to work in the hope of delivering new good news to you. We also continue our efforts to bring the gas in the Sakarya gas field to the land at Filyos. Today, we are taking the first step in doing this and together with our President, we are laying the foundation of the Filyos natural gas operation facility, which will be the first point where natural gas will come ashore. From this facility in Filyos, we will hopefully deliver natural gas to all locations in Turkey. Our goal is to make available the natural gas from the Black Sea region in 2023.”
