Ministry of Economy of Georgia Visited EPİAŞ
Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and Georgian Market Operator ESCO visited EPİAŞ on 19th of November. During the meeting, Deputy Minister at Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Natia Turnava and CEO of ESCO, Vakhtang Ambokadze were informed about Turkish Energy Market and EPİAŞ.
CEO of EPİAŞ, Mr. Ahmet Türkoğlu at his opening speech mentioned that as Turkish Energy Market Operator EPİAŞ is grateful for sharing the experiences with Georgia. Turkish Energy Market has various resources and it works as liberal market. EPİAŞ has an important role and operates energy markets through managing it in an effective, transparent and reliable manner. Mr. Türkoğlu also said that EPİAŞ is carrying out the activities in order to contribute to the development of the energy markets and the spot natural gas market started in addition to the electricity market a few time ago.
Deputy Minister Ms.Turnava, stated that there is an interconnection line between Turkey and Georgia and Turkish investors trades in the Gerogia market. With the support of EPİAŞ, she added that they are willing to benefit from the knowledge of EPİAŞ in order to develop the energy market of Georgia.
During the visit, EPİAŞ authorities presented about the development of Turkish energy market, the market’s current structure and way of functioning and Transparency Platform and about the operation of the RES support mechanisms.
